The newly modernised Kiganjo Factory was officially commissioned by His Excellency President Dr. William Ruto during a colourful ceremony held on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

The President reassured the local dairy farmers of the government’s resolute commitment to protecting them against the unlawful importation of milk powder and other milk-related products. He also announced plans to strengthen extension services and complete the ongoing modernisation and expansion program to enhance capacity and efficiency to prevent losses during periods of surplus production.

The upgrade included the installation of advanced machinery capable of processing both camel and cow milk powder, along with a new drinking water bottling plant.

The successful modernisation has resulted in enhanced efficiency, increased processing and packaging capacity and a reliable market for the dairy farmers in the Mt. Kenya region, while generating employment opportunities both directly and indirectly across the value chain.

Accompanied by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Cabinet Secretary Simon Chelugui, Governor of Nyeri Mutahi Kahiga, Governor of Isiolo Abdi Hassan Guyo, and Members of Parliament, President Ruto was received by Mr. David Maina, the Chairman, Board of Directors and the MD of the New KCC.
